plan b recordings’ lola aka dakini9 returns with another 10 inch in her series of favorite formats. fans of her work will enjoy these two deep tracks with an outer-planetary vibe. *kuiper belt* pumps along with synths and sounds appearing at random like asteroids in space while *plutonian moon* plumbs the depths of inner and outer space with deep basslines, samples, and chords.

nicolas cantu makes a welcome return to sequencias with the lost tribe—a brisk 808 workout with lush synthwork and psychedelic acid stylings. this is a more breezy approach compared to his work on other labels yet spares none of the imaginative or emotive qualities. on the flip side, label head jm de frias offers up the dissonant groover the light as a follow up to his debut track from levon vincents acclaimed fabric mix cd. brash percussion collides with staccato melodies awash in echo and organ, sustaining an intensity that never quite boils over. the two team up for the closer the last light, an atmospheric epic of growling strings, breathy ambience and melancholy stitched together with creaky, decrepit acid stabs and brittle percussion. this is the beginning of an on going collaboration between the two, keep your ears open in the near future.

it has been a busy 12 months for trans-atlantic paraguayan trio lpz since their debut ep, 1983 was released to widespread acclaim, landing the disco single of the month award in dj mag and was featured online everywhere from xlr8r and dazed digital to gotta dance dirty and discobelle.
in the intervening months they’ve released another well received 12 inch on loungin recordings and remixed the likes of the herbaliser, compuphonic (get physical) and logo (kitsune), finally though they return to body work with a brand new 4 track ep, think for yourself.

la fleur is a dj in the ascendant. now a resident dj at watergate in berlin (and with a brand new ep for their label ready to drop - more on that in minute!) she has balanced her craft and her electronic music production with precision and flair: all of this is the result of hard work and a constant stream of quality gigs across the world. for the uninitiated, la fleur took her first forays into the studio in 2008, with her remix of david ekenbaecks nairu on trunkfunk records but it was her solo debut, the flowerhead ep, for her own power plant label, which really rocketed her into charts and record boxes worldwide.

after a sustained period of enviable productivity, renowned producer mark fell arrives on liberation technologies to further carve out his own singular vision of leftfield electronic music. after reviving the snd moniker with long-term collaborator mat steel in 2008, and releasing a slew of singles under the sensate focus guise, it is here that the mind behind recent sound installation *64 beautiful phase violations* delivers his most visceral work yet, melding angular electronics and skittering rhythms into a sonic palette that is undeniably his own. treading an equally as distinctive path throughout their illustrious career, japanese experimentalists boredoms contribute their own vision of parts 1-7, an inspired pairing that is offered up in advance as a tantalising glimpse into the forthcoming record.

it is team time again as we issue yet another huge collaborative effort from some of the scenes most accomplished producers and biggest names. dis070 draws together the collective powerhouse force of dlr, hydro, villem, fields, mako and linden over two tracks to provide an outing of gigantic proportion, individually each producer within their own right is more than capable of delivering the goods in solo work mode, so imagine the results you would get from locking them all up in a dark studio room together for hours on end to channel their combined genius! well the result of that scenario is right here and is everything and more you may expect it to be.

dixon cites tim hecker, autechre and wolfgang voigt as influences and this ep is as equally diverse. we begin with edge of the universe , an enigmatic techno experiment. tight hats and snare work give it an almost jackin feel whilst subtle bumping subs and cryptic vocal chops decorate throughout.

due to its black color, the raven was often a harbinger of death in western culture, brought to you in conjunction with dark deeds. but according to native american medicine teachings, light comes out of darkness and the color black is associated with the source of all energy, creating new realities - with the raven as its messenger. silky raven, namely jakob seidensticker and henrik raabe, have dedicated their work to this process with projects like the havana boys, seidensticker/salour and wareika. on the remix duties we first have october, who delivers an homage to the lfo-influenced sound of the 90ies, raw and pure. and second we have a remix by visionquests shaun reeves and jay haze, who join forces to create a dubtechno- influenced pearl, perfectly rounding up the package.

the uk producer is joined by some famous friends on a surprising journey. watch the ants, paul whites forthcoming ep, is sure to further solidify his reputation as one of the most innovative producers in hip-hop and beyond. the south londoner is joined by the motley crew of trim, sean price, homeboy sandman and rap superstar-in-waiting danny brown, who recruited paul to produce nearly half his forthcoming album old and cited him as *my fav producer to work with*.

part 3 of the emotional relish series sees robi insinnas work remixed by a quartet of british producers. death in vegas overseer richard fearless tackles >be loved< starting with an ethereal loop that builds on top of itself before the beat kicks in and the remix heads for the dark (leather) dancefloor. mr andy blake channels the collective spirits of the slits, the pop group and killing joke on his space echo laden remix of >adolescent sex< whilst weatherall acolyte scott fraser returns to the relish cause with a typically chugging rendition of >turning< that has found favour from croatia boat parties to the catwalks of paris s/s 2013 no less (check youtube for evidence). cosey club founder richard d clouston slows down the tempo for a brooding, mind bending take on >blue girls<.

2013 repress / release number 6 from our label brings us oscar muleros latest work, proof that the new sounds hes experimenting with do not constitute at all a departure from his command of the rawest side of the purest techno. horses, oscar muleros new ep, takes us back to the mulero that the majority of the public will recognise, to the overwhelming sound that has led him straight to the top over the past two decades. the record opens with like a wolf: broken drum beats, sharp hats, fm basses and dynamic white noise drones whose energy never falters throughout the track. horses, the second track, gives the record its name and offers intricate rhythm programming, dark atmospheres and acid sounds that, as a whole, create a mental and hypnotic feeling. the closing track is in a silent way, which runs along similar lines to the previous two, but with less bpms and with an obsessive sequence that mutates and develops throughout the track leaving the listener with a mills aftertaste, but with a berliner touch.

the xx files ep is the latest from matrixxman, co-owner of the soo wavey imprint and formerly known for his work with 5kinandbone5, on brooklyns fifth wall records. the release culls influences from late 80s/early 90s dance music with particular nods to classic detroit techno and wbmx-era chicago house, and remixes come courtesy of londons ill life and irish producer myler.

the wonderful bokhari label return with their fifth release. young hungarian super talent gnork joins the bokhari stable with two summer beauties. lead track *you are totally* is a melodic delight, underpinned with precision drum work and healthy dose of feel good - a festival track if ever we heard one! solar striker is a stunning slice of emotive techno, with hypnotic, oscillating riffs and more of those superbly crafted rhythms. everyones favourite ukranian vakula, transforms solar striker into a sweaty warehouse banger.

after appearances in the last 12 months across world unknown, lets play house, endless flight and futureboogie, geordie trouble starters last waltz add tusk wax to their canon of labels with the first of two releases. the usual hand stamped, individually numbered, weighty 180g vinyl factors are present and correct yet there is still room for the concluding chapter in the sleeve. the thrusting, lusting glamour things isnt shy, pairing motorboat arpeggios with satisfyingly weighty drums, whilst the detuned tipping the gulf tumbles along with a certain lopsided glee. an accompanying jamie blanco remix ramps up the originals lead synths with decidedly epic cosmic results, whilst beholden (part 1) sees last waltz play with the work of foals in calming, cosmiche fashion.

emotional relish welcome in their second ep of 2013 with some solo work from scott fraser after a previous collaboration with headman and nitzer ebb vocalist douglas mccarthy. the light sleeper ep pairs two trademark fraser cuts with remixes from the aforementioned relish boss and fellow weatherall acolyte timothy j fairplay. a drab bassline wades *paraphase mine* into the murkier exclaves of synthy territory, allowing headman to lighten the mood by adding some tonal difference in his mix. fraser sets his arpeggios to flutter and bounce in *centreville lapse* with marching snares set to a severed heads styled reverb. fairplay does away with the tracks nosier components, demystifying frasers original for a warmer, eat petting remix.

another extra-terrestrial movement from space cadets. australian artist nether returns with three tracks of understated and on point dub-influenced electronica. the much sought after glacial dub finally finds its way onto wax, with the 8 minute long roller proving one of the labels most soundsystem orientated tracks so far and a firm favourite with fans.
a side neptune builds with a tuned delicacy, layers of reverb hosting a restrained beat alongside melancholic synth work. sea of glass typifies nethers atmosphere driven sound, furthering his explorations into deep sonic space initiated on his previous release for space cadets.

*airglow fires* is the first new lone material to emerge since his masterful *galaxy garden* album, his most complete body of work to date. departing from the themes of the rave/hardcore revival and cinematic interstellar travel, *airglow fires* sees him exploring a more considered and intimate sound alongside a rediscovered love of classic hip-hop, as he explains: i love hip hop and house music when it is at it is rawest - to me airglow fires has that kind of 90s basement vibe to it, where the lines between the two genres are kind blurred.

tyree coopers all you need is house ep is a proud celebration of the genre, done chicago style and rammed home by marco’s wailing vocals. through solid drums and strong vocal hooks, coopers original beats down hard justifying the need for a 180g pressing. it rattles and hums until dropping into a tom-drum and snare solo similar to runaways *brooklyn club jam*. bobby starrs mix brings marcos teddy pendergrass-sung vocals to the fore, while milty evans gets a little techier with a cut up approach, adding white noise flashes and lots of filterwerk. cooper second take comes via a classic dub which draws a link between squelchy baile funk and a masters at work drum track.

savvy watchers of the throne (of blood) first got acquainted with split secs (the los angeles based duo of alexandre mouracade of sonns fame and west coast house and disco stalwart tk disco) back in december of last year, when they brilliantly remixed waze & odysseys our world. or perhaps it was their incredible work for labels like pacific wizard foundation, jolly jams, or their own machine limited. with the joint ep, they officially join the tob family, and what an entrance!

belfast bass producer unknown who has built up a huge following with a steady stream of tunes on youtube and soundcloud, made his vinyl debut with last years #001-010 series on champion sound recordings, and now he returns to the label with his best and most diverse work yet, the i cry ep. the unknown trademarks – waves of sub-bass, expertly swung percussion and a dark, seductive and tense atmosphere – are all there, and he is pushing into new and fascinating territories too, with some brighter textures, house vibes and his first ever vocal collaboration on the stunning title track, *i cry*.

after years sound tracking the dancehalls of bristol via their considered selections as djs, brotherly pair the kelly twins add label bosses to their cvs with the establishment of happy skull. the label kick offs in illustrious fashion with a collaborative release between two of bristols most interesting producers, kowton and hyetal. adopting the name systems of desire, the pair worked on a track together, before going off to produce their own individual versions entitled *control* and *consumption*, the results are exactly the intriguing cross between kowtons raw, crunchy, grime influenced techno and hyetal’s glistening synth work you would imagine.

after one of the coldest winters on record in the uk, boe provides a welcome respite from haunting memories of the past freezing months with a slice of warmth, soul and deepness from the labels first italian signing, gaetano battista. with a slew of releases under other aliases, the first vinyl record for gaetano under his birth name comprises of 3 tracks of measured, mature and emotional house music that defies any debut presumptions.

the alias of welsh-born, california-based brian williams, lustmord first emerged as an associate of spk in the early 80s, before embarking on a solo career that has yielded such classics as heresy (1990), the place where the black stars hang (1994) and (with robert rich) stalker (1995). lustmord has also contributed to numerous hollywood films as music and sound designer, and collaborated with the likes of clock dva, chris & cosey, geir jenssen, the melvins, tool, aaron turner, monte cazazza and coils jhon balance. often seen to epitomize dark ambient, it would be more accurate to say that his work simply goes deeper, further, than conventional ambient dares, or is able, to go. half a decade in the making, the word as power is his new studio album and an exploration of ritual music without dogma.

cardiff massive giovanni branciamore and bradley albertides heard nicoles amazing sultry folky tones on the flowers of flesh & blood album and just had to work up some nip and bop to sit with her voice. nicole loved it and this is it! we are not too sure what to label this music under but tags of future nip hop ambient folk bop seem to be close. sarah burgess is a secret forest folky vocalist from york with a super soft ambient tone to her voice which was crying out for a touch of flyypost nip. luv*jams ambient alter ego flyypost slides out some wobbled out bass lines, floaty synths and a 68bpm raw kick drum all gliding on a bed of waves with sarahs stunning memories vocal. what style of music do we label this as? neo italo nip folk acid whop?

our third drop is a huge one. tomas malo (outernational, 20:20 vision) delivers two deep and gorgeous cuts of house music in its truest form, with nods to early blues and gospel fused with stunning chord work. remix duties are taken care by two of the industrys best: the inimitable manuel tur (freerange) and red-hot ben la desh (sleazy beats black ops, outernational, dirt crew).

after years of honing his craft as one half of uk house duo homepark, newcomer fold continues his prolific run of solo work following on from his debut outing on george fitzgeralds manmakemusic imprint earlier this year with the slime ep. he now makes his first appearance on electric minds with the upstairs for thinking, downstairs for dancing ep armed with an arsenal of four tracks that are tailored to suit all moods of the dancefloor and that have already been given the thumbs up from the likes of joy orbison and midland.

a quick listen to the radio suggests that disco is back, not that it ever went away here at retrospective and over the past few months we have been proud to work with some of the biggest names on the scene including heion, hardway bros and ajello. still there is certainly something in the air and so what better time to welcome back to the labels spanish king of the re-edits, rayko, with a stunning new 4 track ep.
